It’s no news that I’m a sucker for a YA book, movie or tv show. I LOVE them (I actually think they are my faves….) but I massively struggle to watch them if they don’t have a happy ending…
After recently reading Five Feet Apart, which I recommended in a recent weekend reading suggestion post, I felt like I could have a little cry. Its been made into a movie recently and it got me thinking of all the other teen roms that always have me bawling.
If I Stay.
Holy moly. This film has all the feels, I literally felt like shouting at the screen to tell this gal to wake up.
Plot: Mia and her family are in a terrible car accident on a snowy day. After losing her family, Mia is in a sort of limbo where she has to decide whether to wake up to the land of the living or pass over. A story of first love, family and living in the moment.
I also LOVE the cello in the film, and all its musical elements.
The Fault In Our Stars.
I watched this film once, and I cannot watch it again because I made me cry too much. I absolutely love this film, which shocked me as I didn’t love the book that much, but it really is one that requires a packet of Kleenex and a huge bar of dairy milk to get through.
Plot: Hazel and Gus meet at a cancer support centre. They fall in love through their understanding for each other and embark on an adventure together. Love, humour, and a lot of tears.
Five Feet Apart.
This book was enough to make me cry, so the film is bound to be just as emotional! I loved the two characters in this, and I was rooting for them so much. Grab ya tissues once again!
Plot: Stella and Will are both cystic fibrosis patients, in and out of hospital their whole lives and waiting on a cure, new lungs or drug treatments. They meet, develop a soft spot for each other and finally fall in love, but they can never touch.
Another tear jerker involving illness and a budding romance. A movie that makes you appreciate the small things in life and reminds you to live in the moment, and always to the fullest!
Plot: Katie is essentially allergic to the sun. After a few night time run ins with her crush, she eventually has to tell him that she has a life threatening condition. A story of love, loss and letting go.
ALSO HAS MUSIC ELEMENTS!
This one is one of my favourites, I love the window romance at the beginning and I love the journey that Maddy goes through to live the life that she’s always wanted.
Plot: Maddie has SCID, she has been kept indoors as long as she can remember in a clinically sterile environment. When new boy Olly moves in next door, they start a friendship and a romance which ultimately leads to Maddy experiencing the outside world and the things she’s been missing out on.
Have you got any favourites that you could add to my list? I would love to hear your recommendations!
