I hate to sound cliche, but where the bloomin’ heck has august (and the whole of summer) gone? I’m sure that about 10 minutes ago it was April, and now I’m finding myself frantically soaking up the last of the summer rays, BBQing in the rain and I keep catching myself telling people i’m 22 when I’m really not. Basically, i’m a year behind pals.
Now, even though August has been a bit of a fly by, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it kind of month, I have managed to wangle up a few favourites that I’ve been LOVING!
Books, film & TV
The Choice- Edith Eger. Holy Sh*t this book is incredible. I have never read something quite so powerful and enlightening. Good is the wrong word, this book is the story of a holocaust surviver and the reality is something completely shocking, so I don’t want to use the word good. It was inspiring. Read it now.
Two Can Keep a Secret- Karen McManus. We all know that I absolutely love a good YA fiction book. My sister laughs at me, but they really fill me with joy. I loved Karen McManus previous book ‘One Of Us Is Lying’ and so when I saw this on the shelves I thought I’d add it to the book list. Absolutely love. Such an easy read to enjoy, however I didn’t love it quite as much as her first.
The Sky Is Everywhere- Jandy Nelson. Another heartwarming YA fiction for those who love the genre as much as me. The plot follows Lennie who is still struggling after the sudden death of her sister and is finding her way between two relationships. You are welcome.
Falling Inn Love- Netflix Film. Ok, so this is a pretty new film on Netfix (like, I watched it today) but it was so good! I love that rom com, opposites attract style film and this just hit the spot for me! Funny, check. Heartwarming, check. Dreamy guy, check.
Stranger Things- Netflix TV. Me and Ad watched the latest series of Stranger things together, and we tried so hard to not watch it all in the space of a week! If you’ve not seen the series you should give it a go, and you’ll be waiting for season 4 just as impatiently as us!
Gilmore Girls- Netflix TV. We’ve all seen it before, but Rory and Loreli are my go to if I cant sleep or need something easy to watch and giggle to!
Interior Design Masters- BBC. Now, I have actually only seen one episode of this so far but I loved it and I am definitely putting the rest of the series on my watch list!
Hair & Beauty
Maria Nila- Silver Shampoo and Conditioner. My blonde is back and I am loving this pair! When I first cracked them back out oft the cupboard I noticed a massive difference in how blonde my hair went after even one wash! I love how the shampoo lathers up and I love the silky feeling my hair has after using the conditioner!
Maria Nila- Salty mist. I love a salt spray, however I hate the dry feeling that I often get after using them. I find my hair can dry out very fast after using certain salt sprays. I love this one, I can apply to damp hair and it gives a great texture while feeling light and hydrating!
Maria Nila- Invisible shampoo We all need a bit of dry shampoo in our lives, especially if you rock a curtain fringe like me. Sometimes we just need that extra texture and, for lack of a better word, jujj. This one is working a treat for me right now.
Drunk Elephant- Lippe. Super moisturising lip balm for the everyday wear. I never usually notice a difference in my lips after using balms, but I really feel like my lips have been softer and more moisturised since I’ve added this to my handbag.
RMS Beauty- Peach Illuminator. I mentioned this babe in my recent post here, so I won’t go into much detail BUT, I love it.
Health & Wellness
Olivia Bonas- One line a day Memory book. My main babe got me this little dreamer as a prezzie recently and I have been loving taking a moment every night, putting my phone down and thinking about my day writing it down and really feeling grateful before sleep. I would highly recommend!
Running with friends. I am not a natural exercise enthusiast, however I do enjoy running once I’ve built up enough motivation to put my trainers on and leave the house. I have ran a few times with friends this month and its SO much better. The perfect time to chat and be active together.
Watermelon and Feta Salad- Pinterest. I would never put these two foods together, but after a Pinterest whim I can confirm it is amazing!
Pukka- Detox Tea – I love this refreshing and cleansing tea, I’ve found it very hydrating and with a super yummy taste (which is a huge complement coming from a gal who gags at green tea…)
What have you been loving in AUGUST!?
