When we are younger we barely even pass a thought as to the days that we will have bills to pay, have to dress like an adult and generally become our own person.
No, we were used to being told that we can have 2 ciders when we go out and to be back by 10, being told not to spend our money on clothes that we will wear once and not to surround ourselves with a toxic group of friends.
But what the hell happened, where did the time go and when did we start taking charge of these things ourselves? Its time to get our shit together.
Take charge of your finances.
This is the biggest step in getting our shit together, and I think it calls for a separate post. BUT, to summarise, learn how to budget. Get yourself a note book and create some columns with various saving ‘pots’.
Include things like rent, bills, cars, holidays, Christmas…you get the gist. Now, split your money into these columns and decide how much you are going to add to these ‘pots’ each month.
That way you will have a good idea of how much you have for different things and you’ll know you have the money for the necessary things!
Take charge of your social circle.
There comes a time where friendships and all social relationships are bound to change, while we are growing up it is inevitable that things are going to change as we go.
It’s time to accept it and embrace the new dynamics we have in our life with old and new friends. Put things in perspective and try not to be taken for granted WHILE not taking anyone else for granted, after all, its not a fantastic feeling.
Take charge of your priorities.
Priorities of people, places and things will vary person to person. But generally try to spend more time listening and talking to people who really care and make sure you are always enjoying yourself.
Don’t do something because everyone else does it and don’t go somewhere because you are supposed to. Get your priorities in place and the rest will follow naturally. Oh, and DON’T feel guilty for them- they are YOURS!
Take charge of your vibe.
By this, I mean all the little things in life that just represent YOU! Your home, your interiors, your style and your attitude.
No-one can ‘tell you off’ or give you detention for having your midriff showing, for having a bright blue and pink wall or for having dreams that are too big. BE YOUR BOSS!
Embrace what kind of vibe you have to give, work on improving that vibe and help to build others up.
Take charge of YOU!
No-one is going to make you go to the gym, eat healthily or look after your skin and hair anymore, it’s time to start looking after yourself because you WANT to.
Making time for the things like this will make a difference to your overall mood and happiness, I promise you. A bit of self care will always go a long, long way….
Lets smash this adult malarky…or, lets at least have a few LOL’s trying…
